29. Nobody likes a skinny Ray King. (Rod)
30. Joe the Plumber is a Reds fan.
31. While on Let’s Make a Deal, Acta, failed to choose the answer behind Column A, leaving the team to suffer the consequences of ColomB.
32. I could spit dip juice on the floor of RFK and not get stared at in disgust by middle aged white mothers and their toddlers.
33.The upperdeck, while modestly priced, provides no protection from the most annoying people on the planet.
34. The electric bill from the every 15 minute updated construction cameras was not subsidized by the town, and we all paid a little more per kilo-watt hour.
35. The Anacostia’s stench, mixed with the dry dust from the Florida Rock dump trucks, created an unsightly, literally, air contaminant resulting in nose sludge. This explains why the 200 level sections were all empty. Excessive tissue waste.
36. The Raph ate too many servings of chicken and fries. Unable to unbutton his Elasticfit Old Man Khakis, he lost that satisfying feeling of knowing and then surpassing, personal consumption limits.

14. The no salary cap thing can be bitch a when other teams are racking up great players that we should have made the move for. (Chris Cusick)

19. Ben’s Chili bowl should never have given Meat Hook that all you can eat card.
20. Frank Robinson is a God. A spiteful, yet correct, God.
21. Michael Phelps was the most common Halloween costume next to Guido and Slutty Witch. (Ms. Zim)
22. On the giant banner behind the score board there is a guy wearing a Yankees Universe shirt. Very disturbing despite Zim being greeted at home by his teammates.
23. Despite our constant heckling and emails, the team will not trade for Russell Martin.
24. Lack of NatsPack ultimate frisbee visual stimulant, leaves hippies disillusioned and disinterested.
25. Nick Johnson shaved his ugly, but appreciated beard.

102 posts is coming… I swear.
by The Raph - posted Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008
So I suppose this is where we say that we have been busy, or swamped, or so self righteous that we haven’t been able to post. Or that baseball is over and we arent paying attention. Insert your own excuse here.
In the fairness of being truthful, I will not explain ourselves to you all, but I will promise the 102 reasons to be coming out in the next 2 days. Stay tuned.
And also, a podcast. Shocker, I know. Should be up Friday.

O, pardon me, Mi-Lledge!
by The Raph - posted Wednesday, September 17th, 2008
Ok, so this has been in the “drafts” queue for over 2 months. I figured now would be a good time to pull it out. Do you get it? Do you? Say it out loud in an Arthurian Olde English Accent. I thought it was funny. Maybe I am the only one. I am sorry I doubted you, sir Lastings.
Moving on, we have come to an interesting time in the year. I am currently watching the Nats try to go 3 straight on the Mets - who seem hell bent on repeating last years mental gaffe.
Sidenote: Other than David Wright, there is not one player on the Mets roster that I can look at without my right fist clinching (Obvious exceptions are Schneid & Church)…
Carlos Beltran - douchebag.
Carlos Delgado - anti-American spoiled brat. Hey I don’t like the overkill God Bless America either, but you are making tons of money, off of people that do like it. Suck it up.
Johan Santana - good pitcher, over-groomed goatee.
Jose Reyes - supreme douchebag.
New York deserves a team that wants to be the man but can’t beat the man. Stylin’ and Profilin’, without the rings or the accomplishments. WOOOOOOO!
The game itself seems to be out of control at the moment, but the Nat’s can still take 3 of 4 if they win the closing game on Friday. There is hope!

Who is this team and what have you done with my Nats?
by Dewey - posted Monday, September 8th, 2008
Well, well, well… lookie what we have here.
Yes ladies and gentlemen of the Natscast faithful, I, Dewey, am back. After my month long hiatus due to prior work related events — stupid Olympic Games — We are back at it here for the last month of the season.
Rumor has it that we even have a new podcast recording device rearing to go!
So when I left the loveable losers they were headed for about 200 losses, yes? (OK, so that’s not possible, but come on, like you didn’t think they could find a way to pull it off?) Now I come back, and — amazingly — there is some team wearing Nat’s jerseys playing fantastic baseball. 7-3 in their last 10? Dukes with extra inning heroics? Who the hell is playing second base?
It’s amazing what a little time off and health can do to a team, huh? Not to mention some young guys playing above their worth. This is the team that we hoped for at the beginning of the season. This is what we expected. So despite the ridiculous losing streaks, base running mistake, errors, front office blunders and general lack of wins, the Nationals are playing the role of spoiler.
Too bad they waited for football season to start. Don’t worry guys, we’re watching.

Open Forum Fan Email

For this week, we are turning to an apelike animal cryptid rumored to inhabit the Appalachian Piedmont region of Leesburg - however we have also seen evidence of previous inhabitance along the rolling hills of Damascus.
Dear The Raph,
ESPN-Page 2 produced the following article stating that relief pitcher is the most overated position in sports:
My initial reaction (without even reading the whole article): Even though linebackers and running backs are a dime a dozen, the attached study is pretty darn convincing. Your thoughts?

Well sir, to answer this question, I will open up the forum. Leave your comments, lets start a blog post comment argument. That way you can pretend to know what your talking about by quoting obscure sources and stuff…

Apologies
by The Raph - posted Monday, August 11th, 2008
Do you know what life is about? Life is about the transfer of funds. Think about it on the most basic level. Throw out emotions. Everything revolves around people taking your money. Gifts, bills, taxes, food, transportation, entertainment and health. Is it even possible to reap the rewards of hard work? (Note that I do not participate in this ideology of hard work).
Are the Nationals reaping the benefits of their hard work, or are they lucky? The future looks good, not great, but it always looks good. If the future wasn’t seen in a rosy hue, then people would not be people. We need to justify our transfer of money now for future gains. Bonafacio is pretty smooth. Lastings is hitting (this week). Zimmerman looks like he plays hard. Kearns hit a homerun. Lannan is a magician. Etc…
I have stock piled a few emails that are great topics and I will pull one out this week. We still cannot record any new podcasts, unless we go old school with the analog tape deck and I hold some office clerk hostage while I use their computer for digitization - that actually sounds like a good idea. Hold the thought.
So anyways, enjoy the team without our ramblings. We will be operational after we steal enough money to buy a new computer. Thanks for your patience and accept our apologies. If you actually care.

We Fear Change…
by The Raph - posted Monday, August 4th, 2008
No doubt inspired by the recent play of the Nationals (READ: SWEEP!), due in part to the “new” guys coming and the “old” guys going, Natscast is going under the knife trying to establish our own winning streak. Please see the following press release:
Late last night (or early this morning, depending on your preference) the Wheelman packed Dewey’s bags, hog-tied him, drove him to Union Station, and tossed him on the Acela Express. Destination - Connecticut. Mission - Reconnaissance. Orders - Classified. Duration - 20 days.
Hopefully this “vacation” will cleanse Dewey’s mind and soul. A body cleanse would be nice, but not required. Knowing the bootcamp hell that is in store for our comrade, I fully expect new radio voices and a refined accent for at least 23 different forms of broken English.
In his absence the Producer and I will be hitting on all cylinders like a 1972 Buick Centurion. We will be having guest hosts from time to time, ranging from Natsfan Tim to Leo the Elder, or even the Wheelman if he is feeling chatty. But he usually just drives - so if you see him coming your way, you might be rooming with Dewey soon. Just a warning… But we are opening up the table for more contributions, so please inquire within.
And in other news, we were victims of cyber vandalism. The podcasts will resume after the Task Force locates the source of the problem.
