I Love Libraries

1 GW for unlimited internet use. Ideal. So I am browsing the world wide and I came across tonight’s final score - Senators Volume One 11, Winter Migration Expos 2. Ugh.

  • Reaction #1: Baseball should not be played indoors. Especially with a piece of plastic being used as a wall. I would rather see that crappy orange mesh style construction chicken wire fence instead of a camping tarp.
  • Reaction #2: The Twins have the best hat in the majors. The interlocking Twin Cities cap is phenomenal.

So we are back to square as the Twins win big.

  • Delayed Reaction #3: The Nats gave up on Brendan Harris. Remember the trade in July 2006? Of course you do. The Nat’s brass sold it to the public, trading spare parts for two legit everydayers. (Lopez + Kearns + Wagner) > (Majewski, Bray, Clayton, Harris, Thompson), right?

Lets check the stats since the deal. Keep in mind that Harris only played in 8 games in 2006 after the trade, while Lopez was a regular. Harris was the starting SS on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays last year, while Lopez has been going through the motions in Washington. (Stats up to June 17th).

Harris: 208 games, 755 ABs, 100 runs, 202 hits, 45 doubles, 14 HRs, 67 RBIs, 5 SBs, .268 Avg.

Lopez: 292 games, 1,107 ABs, 135 runs, 282 hits, 53 doubles, 12 HRs, 90 RBIs, 34 SBs, .254 Avg.

Now granted, these are only the “positive” contribution stats and I am not even considering the discussion on defense, but consider those numbers for a moment. Aren’t they close? I am not saying the trade was a bad move, nor am I saying that Lopez is a bust. But what I am focusing on is that, more often than not, those Throw-In trade chips have value. And considering the lack of depth in the organization at the middle infield position, having someone like Brendan Harris would be beneficial. And he doesn’t throw a hissy about riding the pine.

  • Super Delayed Reaction #4: Why would an organization only charge a dollar for internet use, but then charge $2.50 for a pencil. Stupid cumulative stats. Does anyone want to subsidize my membership to a premium baseball statistics subscription site?
Wait a minute, what the hell am I thinking? I’m not a stat guy. Please disregard this entire post. Thanks for wasting six minutes.
