Prior to the second part of the doubleheader, the Nationals scored 2 runs in some 30 odd innings. [INSERT TERRIBLE CUMULATIVE HITTING STATS HERE] Other acceptable answers include:

• a. Winning a bet with Jim Bowden on the arrival of Dukes raw power. 1 HR in 64 ABs. Only 39 more homers and 180 more strikeouts to become the second coming of Adam Dunn. Totally doable, especially with an estimated 400 ABs left.
• b. Flop just shoved him out of the way and said “This mosh pit is for current players, COACH. Go stand stoically by the dugout rail and nod with approval when we walk by on the way to the clubhouse. Stop living vicariously through us. We all know you are the MLB leader in pinch hitting. Live in the Now.”
• c. Manny Acta hates his finely trimmed yet uninspired and mildly juvenile beard.

How can you respect a hitting coach when he acts like one of the guys? Sports is not a democracy, it’s a coachocracy. When you have a coach being one of the guys it never works. Ever. Extra credit: The number of everyman superfriend Wade Phillips’ playoff wins?
