The 2nd Ghost of Livan

by The Raph - posted Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

So Garrett Mock’s second career start was what one would expect. At least I would. 6 IPs, 8 hits, 4 ERs, 8 Ks, 1 BB. That is not a bad day by any means for a rookie, especially going up against the Rangers offense. I think nice things are coming for the other pitcher the Nats received from Arizona for the 58 mph Curveball Tosser.

The bullpen? Ouch. Mop-up work continues for Everyday Colome and the May callups. Absolutely nothing to write about and I refuse to dwell on the negatives of a bad team.

What is MLB trying to pull anyways? Did they think it was cute to have the new Washington franchise play the other Washington franchises in interleague play? Were they hoping for the oldtimers happy thoughts of teams that bolted the city? I am not a native D.C. resident, but I have been privy to the Baltimore - D.C. rivalry, and a lot of the resentment coming out of the southern Beltway resides with the fact that they did not have a team for 30 odd years, forcing locals to adopt the O’s as their team. (Well, that and the fact that Angelos belongs in a Glad Forceflex 39 Gallon Drawstring) Now there is a team, so everyone can discard the O’s, resent the O’s, and then use that as a “BATTLE OF THE BELTWAY!!!!!!!!!! ARGGHHHH” promotion. So why would they want to embrace the Senators Vol. 2 in Washington? Nothing about this town makes sense. Nothing about what I write makes sense.

UPDATE (5:18P.M.): The Nats optioned both Mock and Sanches back to Triple-A. So much for that experiment. Odalis Perez must be on the way back. Where’s Schroder? Why is he not on this team? Call him up, Jimbo.
